Sexually Transmitted Disease Treatment, STD Testing

Accredited By:

At Harley Street MD, we offer comprehensive sexually transmitted infection (STI) and sexually transmitted disease (STD) testing for men at our central London clinic. It’s important to get an STI screening if you suspect you’ve been exposed, are having symptoms, have had sex without protection or have a new sexual partner. We offer all the exams and tests you need in a comfortable and judgement-free environment, so you can feel confident you are being safe.

Your sexual health is important to us, so our STI package includes consultation, examination and testing. If treatment is required, we will discuss the best course of treatment with full confidentiality.

Why Do I Need to Get STI Testing?

Sexually transmitted infections can be easily passed between sexual partners, even if no symptoms are present. Often, people do not know they have an infection until it’s too late, which is why regular STI testing is important. Bloodborne viruses (i.e. HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, syphilis) can be transmitted through sex and recreational drug use — these can be tested promptly and privately in our clinic. Your concerns will be heard and our turnover time is quick because we know how frustrating it could be waiting for test results.

What STIs Do We Test For?

Sexually transmitted infection screening is very simple and quick. If you don’t know what test you should get, we recommend doing all of them before you come into sexual contact with a new partner. We can discuss your situation privately and answer any questions you have about our STI testing and treatment. All tests are analysed at the highest standard of accuracy by leading pathology laboratories in the Harley Street area. We do tests for:

  • Gonorrhoea
  • Chlamydia
  • HIV
  • Hepatitis B
  • Hepatitis C
  • Syphilis

No painful urethral swabs will be taken. Gonorrhoea and chlamydia can now be tested with the latest PCR technology with a urine sample. The gold standard HIV combination test will be used as per national guideline — it tests for HIV types one and two, antibodies as well as p24 antigen. Results are highly sensitive and specific when the test is performed more than 28 days after the last potential exposure.

Please hold urine for one to two hours prior to the appointment. The STI testing will take around 15 to 30 minutes. Results will usually be given in person, by phone or by email on the same or next day. Your confidentiality will be ensured, and if treatments are required, they will be discussed and offered to you.

‘I blast and cruise for years. When my haematocrit level went up, my GP did not seem to care and I couldn’t possibly wait for weeks to see a specialist. I am so lucky that to have found Harley Street MD through my research and it is the only clinic I have found that accept self-referral for therapeutic venesection due to AAS use.

I was recommended by my gym mate, I can’t thank you enough for sorting out my prolactin issue due to steroid use. You are a godsend.
