Rejuvenate Your Skin With These Top 5 Procedures

woman smiling, rejuvenate your skin with these top 5 procedures blog post.

No matter what our age, we all want to look our best and put our freshest face forward into the world. Many factors determine the nature and look of your skin — diet, environment, age, genetics, skincare routine and more. Most of us can’t escape the inevitable ageing process. But we can slow it down, for sure! Today we share with you our top five non-surgical procedures that rejuvenate your skin, along with everything you need to know about these popular treatments in our London clinic.

Skin Hydration Therapy

The first skin rejuvenation treatment we will talk about is skin hydration therapy. This game-changing procedure is non-invasive and one of the most affordable on our list. It has the added benefit of having no downtime, so you can come to the clinic on your lunch break and return to the office right after. Juvederm Volite hydrates the skin with hyaluronic acid, which we have discussed at length. We inject the filler around the face to improve skin texture, increase elasticity and reduce fine lines. This procedure isn’t so much about reversing the signs of ageing as we do with Botox but rejuvenating the skin for a healthier, glowy and youthful appearance.

Micro-Needling

Next, let’s talk about micro-needling. This procedure is mildly invasive but with less lasting results. During this treatment, we use a dermal roller device called Dermapen to make tiny pricks all over the face with micro-fine needles. This superficial damage to the skin helps the dermis regenerate itself and produce new collagen resulting in firmer, smoother, more youthful skin. Micro-needling is also helpful in reducing fine lines, acne scarring and age spots. One more advantage of this treatment — it allows your facial products to penetrate deeper.

Before the procedure, we apply numbing cream so you won’t feel much during the treatment. You will experience some redness and possibly some irritation after so it’s important to take aftercare seriously with a vitamin C or hyaluronic acid serum. You get the most benefit from micro-needling when you do a series of treatments spaced six weeks apart. We can add PRP therapy to your treatment for what is affectionately known as a “vampire facial”. This popular combination of treatments gives amazing results and helps your skin generate further collagen production.

Chemical Peels

A chemical peel is a facial treatment that effectively removes the top layer of skin to reveal the fresh skin underneath. To achieve this, a chemical acid solution is applied to the skin. Peels come in various strengths and formulations — from light alpha-hydroxy or fruit acid peels you can do at home, medium-strength peels that penetrate middle layers of skin, all the way up to phenol peels, which require anaesthetic and must be performed by a licensed aesthetician or doctor.

We would consider this procedure to be minimally invasive. Each type of chemical peel requires aftercare and recovery time, so this isn’t a “no-downtime” treatment. The medium peels could take seven to fourteen days of recovery, while the deep peels require longer downtime, painkillers and no sun exposure. Your face will be red, swollen, possibly blistery and will begin to peel around the second or third day after treatment. This treatment isn’t for everyone but is especially helpful for those with acne scarring, severe sun damage and dark spots, and uneven skin tone. Chemical peels also reduce fine lines and improve skin texture for a more youthful look.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses your blood to create a substance full of growth factors and proteins, injected into your face with small needles. This treatment stimulates collagen and elastin production, which naturally decreases as we age. You will experience an improvement in your skin texture and a reduction of fine lines with this procedure. It may seem strange, but this therapy has been used for wound healing, in sports medicine, dermatology and other medical applications for decades. PRP therapy is also used to help with male-pattern baldness

This treatment is great for those who want an alternative to Botox, dermal fillers, and the other treatments we list here. Since the substance injected is from your own blood, there is less risk of complications, side effects or an allergic reaction. This factor helps clients feel safe and secure. This treatment is great for all over the face, neck, décolletage, hands and more but is especially great for dark circles under the eyes, known as the tear-troughs, as this is a delicate area of the face to treat. The treatment takes about 30 minutes and there is no downtime. To get the most out of PRP therapy, we recommend a few treatments spaced six weeks apart. You’ll start to see results within a few weeks and complete new collagen reproduction at three months. Your beautiful skin can last up to 18 months, but we recommend coming in for a follow-up a year after treatment.

Non-surgical Liquid Facelift

As we age, we lose elasticity in the skin — this is the skin’s ability to stay tight and taut. So you may notice that parts of the face are sagging, like droopy eyelids, sunken cheeks, or jowls around the neck. Collagen production also slows down as we get older, which is what keeps the face supple and moisturised. Dermal fillers transform the face without surgery by adding moisture, reducing fine lines, and giving the skin a chance to become lifted and tight again. If your face needs a boost all over, you’ll want to try our non-surgical liquid facelift, which is a bespoke plan using many techniques to give you the new refreshed look you desire. This is also known as an “eight-point facelift”.

We use different types of facial fillers for different parts of the face and body. Dermal fillers are amazing because they give results without having to have surgery and go under the knife. There is minimal downtime with fillers and the procedure is much safer. Injectables are the future. With this procedure, you’ll see a vast improvement in your skin within days and results last a year to eighteen months.
